Istinye University and Siemens Healthineers Turkey announced that they will offer educational opportunities to students by collaborating in the field of health technologies. This partnership aims to train well-equipped healthcare professionals and contribute to the sustainable healthcare ecosystem by strengthening the cooperation between academia and industry. 

The United Kingdom launched an investigation into TikTok, Reddit and Imgur regarding the methods of processing children’s personal data. TikTok’s method of using the data of users aged 13-17 in its recommendation systems and Imgur and Reddit’s age determination of children are being evaluated in terms of compliance with data protection laws. 

Apple has decided to withdraw its Advanced Data Protection (ADP) service from the country after the United Kingdom government rejected its request for access to iPhone backups and iCloud data. The company reiterated its commitment to protecting user data with high security measures and stated that they hope to reintroduce this service in the United Kingdom in the future. 

Microsoft announced the finalisation of EU Data Border to give European customers greater data control. This solution, which covers most Azure services, enables public and commercial customer data to be stored and processed within the EU and EFTA. In the process, Microsoft continues its commitment to protect privacy by increasing data transparency. 

The European Commission announced that it will promote decarbonisation in European industry with the “Clean Industry Consensus” published on February 26, 2025. The agreement aims to maintain competitiveness by reducing energy prices, support clean technology and accelerate transformation through steps such as the establishment of the Industrial Decarbonisation Bank 


🏛️⚙️🌿 DEVELOPMENTS FROM PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS REGARDING TECHNOLOGY AND SUSTAINABILITY

The Directorate of Communication published the 163rd and 164th issue of Disinformation Bulletin. Accordingly, the allegations regarding the manipulation campaign on Turkey’s waste recycling activities and zero waste movement do not reflect the truth. 

The Cyber Security Law Draft started to be debated in the plenary session of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey following the completion of the commission process. The draft law stipulates the establishment of the Cyber Security Board and the Cyber Security Presidency, taking necessary measures against cyber incidents, and imprisonment penalties as well as administrative fines. 

The Regulation Amending the Reconciliation Regulation on Administrative Fines Imposed under the Law No. 6502 on the Protection of Consumers was published in the Official Gazette dated March 5, 2025 and numbered 32832. Accordingly, regulations have been made regarding the application process and documents, and the possibility to apply by registered mail has been introduced. 

The Climate Law Proposal was passed from the commission on February 26, 2025 to be submitted to the plenary by adding the phrase “development” instead of “growth”, the phrase “in line with the net zero target” to the definition of the Emission Trading System and the phrases “taking into account the just transition requirements” in the preparation of local climate change action plans.
