The European Commission published the “European Quantum Strategy” on July 2, 2025. The strategy aims to accelerate Quantum Bill investments to be presented   in 2026, focusing on five priority areas covering research, infrastructure, skills and industrial applications, with the aim of making the European Union a world leader in quantum technologies by 2030.

WhatsApp has been banned on all devices belonging to the US House of Representatives. Accordingly, the Office of Cybersecurity rated WhatsApp as a high-risk app due to its lack of transparency about how it protects user data, lack of data storage encryption, and potential security risks.

Apple is turning to artificial intelligence technologies from OpenAI and Anthropic to power the updated Siri. While Apple is pursuing its own LLM Siri project, Apple announced it wants to test these models on cloud infrastructure and that the release of the new Siri could be delayed until 2026 or even 2027 due to technical issues.

Meta announced that, following the 200 million € fine imposed by the European Commission for violations of the Digital Services Act (DSA), it has made limited adjustments to its “pay or consent” advertising model in the Eropean Union. The company stated that it updated the language and design flow presented to users during the consent process, while noting that the sufficiency of these changes will be evaluated by the European Commission.

US President Donald Trump signed a new presidential decree delaying for 90 days the implementation of the law that would ban TikTok in the country if it is not transferred to a US company. It is also indicated that if China does not give its approval for the sale of TikTok, tariffs on Beijing may be imposed.

Schneider Electric was named the “World’s Most Sustainable Company” for 2025 in a ranking prepared by TIME Magazine and Statista. Its success was based on its goals of 25% absolute carbon reduction by 2030 and net zero emissions across its entire value chain by 2050. 

Google becomes the first major technology company to enter into a commercial agreement with MIT-based startup CFS for the purchase of 200 MW of fusion energy. The Ministry of Trade warned consumers against fraudulent attempts to give the impression of investment advice through fake videos and advertisements supported by artificial intelligence. In recent complaints, it has been reported that citizens have been financially harmed by using images and voice recordings of well-known people created with artificial intelligence.

The Regulation on the Identification and Certification of Technology and Innovation-Oriented Initiatives was published in the Official Gazette dated July 3, 2025. The Regulation regulated the procedures and principles regarding the identification of technology and innovation-oriented startups with scalable business models.

The Climate Law entered into force upon publication in the Official Gazette dated July 9, 2025. The Climate Law regulates the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, climate change adaptation activities, planning and implementation tools, permitting and inspection mechanisms, and establishes the legal framework for instruments such as emission trading system and carbon credits.

The Communiqué Amending the Communiqué on Implementation Procedures and Principles of the Green Transformation Program was published in the Official Gazette dated 9 July 2025. The implementation procedures and principles of the Green Transformation Program, which aims to support resource-efficient and low-carbon production that contributes to the circular economy, protection of natural resources, climate and sustainability goals in Türkiye, were updated.
