Amazon has announced the artificial intelligence-based assistant application called “Q,” designed for businesses to perform activities such as generating marketing ideas and creating sales reports.
Erdem Inan, CEO of Trendyol, stated that efforts are underway to enter the Eastern European e-commerce market in the first quarter of 2024.

DEVELOPMENTS FROM PUBLIC INSTITUTIONS REGARDING TECHNOLOGY

The Directorate of Communications published a Special Edition of the Disinformation Bulletin dedicated to Palestine again.
The European Union Artificial Intelligence Regulation, nearing its final stage, is back under discussion due to the recent advancements in chatbot applications and the changing market dynamics. Debates on regulating extensive chatbot applications like ChatGPT, Bing, and Bard are likely to be postponed until the new year.
The Turkish Grand National Assembly’s Digital Media Committee discussed social media platforms, including TikTok. Emir Gelen, TikTok Türkiye spokesperson, highlighted their proactive measures, like the “Family Matching” mode, to examine and control children’s content consumption. Additionally, measures against money laundering and inappropriate content were discussed.
The Competition Authority announced that a workshop will be held on 20 December 2023 to evaluate the Online Advertising Sector Preliminary Review Report published on 7 April 2023.
Alpaslan Cakar, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Turkish Banks Association, emphasized the need for joint efforts to connect the finance sector with technology and stating that Turkish states could collaborate in the field of digital currency.
Mehmet Fatih Kacır, Minister of Industry and Technology, emphasized at the “Take Off” summit, where more than 200 technology startups participated, that the aim for 2030 is to establish 100.000 technology startups in Türkiye.
Erol Ozvar, Head of the Higher Education Council, stated that the implementation of artificial intelligence-oriented programs is planned to start at universities from the academic year of 2024-2025.

NEWS ABOUT TÜRKİYE’S INTERNAL POLITICS AND FOREIGN AFFAIRS

President Erdogan highlighted Türkiye’s pursuit of the 2053 zero-emission goal at the World Climate Summit, noting the increased share of renewable energy sources within the total installed capacity to 55%. In addition, Humberto Lopez, the World Bank’s Country Director, commended Türkiye’s efforts and announced a support program of up to $750 million for expanding renewable energy sources.
